The American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) is the national trade association for the U.S. wind industry. With thousands of wind industry members and wind policy advocates, AWEA promotes wind energy as a clean source of electricity for American consumers. AWEA also works to educate community leaders about the benefits of wind energy as part of a diverse, affordable, and secure energy portfolio. Towns and cities across the country turn to wind energy to provide families and businesses with affordable electricity, reduce their carbon footprints and meet their clean energy commitments, and save money. With the right policy support, wind power can grow to provide 20 percent of the United States’ electricity, and in doing so, support 500,000 American jobs. A few of the key policies AWEA pursues include strong state-wide renewable portfolio standards (RPS), predictable tax policies, favorable transmission policies, and prudent siting policies.
