Mr. Laszlo Palko is currently serving as the Town Manager of Lovettsville, VA since 2014. Prior to taking on this role, Laszlo had 8 years of public and private sector management experience. He began his career serving our nation as a US Army Officer, where he deployed twice to Afghanistan with the 10 Mountain Division. In Afghanistan, Mr. Palko was responsible for administering a Provincial Government and 7 County Governments. He successfully developed local government capacity, negotiated peace agreements, and managed a $50million budget supporting local government operations, infrastructure projects (e.g. roads, utilities, schools, and hospitals), and economic development (e.g. small business development and job training programs). After completing his time in service and earning a Bronze Star Medal for his successes in Afghanistan, Mr. Palko worked as a Management and Financial Consultant for both Booz Allen Hamilton and IBM where he helped clients achieve cost savings, manage their Capital programs, and improve business processes. He also served as a policy intern for the US Senate and as a Performance Management Analyst for the City of Revere, MA. In Revere, he worked with the Mayor and the Department of Public Works to design and implement a performance management solution for the city. Mr. Palko earned his Master’s Degree in Public Policy from Harvard University and his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Washington where he graduated as a Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society member. He also completed the US Army’s Military Intelligence Officer School where he graduated at the top of his class. He is a member of the International City Managers Association, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Military Officer’s Association of America. Mr. Palko is married and currently resides in Ashburn, Va.
