Kevin W. Bruny is currently Director of the Learning & Performance Center and Chief Learning Officer for Chesterfield County Government, Chesterfield Virginia where he connects performance and talent development with the county’s service delivery strategy. Prior to being named CLO, Kevin was a member of the Human Resource Management team, as Assistant Director, where he oversaw the areas of EEO & Employment, Employee Relations, Learning and Development, Background Investigations and Volunteer Services. Under his leadership, Chesterfield County has earned the recognition as the first and only local government to be named to Training Magazine’s Top 125 for seven years moving from #53 to #16 and most recently #22. In 2014, the county was named a Silver LearningElite Organization by Chief Learning Officer magazine ranking #28. Prior to returning to Chesterfield County in 2000, Kevin was Vice-President and Organizational Development Consultant with Crestar Financial Corporation, now SunTrust Corporation, where he successfully integrated a high-performance team model and change management architecture to shift business and individual behaviors. His thirty years in Human Resource Management have provided a wide variety of experiences and the ability to understand both business and people in a way that helps organizations successfully realize their business objectives. Kevin holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from West Virginia Wesleyan College and a Master's Degree in Adult Education/Human Resource Development from Virginia Commonwealth University. Kevin is a member of the Society of Human Resource Management Association as a Certified Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) and has obtained the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) designation from the Human Resource Certification Institute. He also holds memberships with the Association for Talent Development. He has served as a judge for the CUBIC (Corporate University Best In Class) Awards and is a frequent speaker at conferences. Kevin is an Adjunct Associate Professor in Human Resource Management at the University of Richmond’s School of Professional and Continuing Studies and has served as President of the Alumni Association and a Trustee for West Virginia Wesleyan College. He gives his time as a board member for Community Building Committee of the Greater Richmond United Way, Pinnacle Living, and is currently Past-President of the Board of Henrico County CASA.
