I am from a small town near Columbus, Ohio and graduated from Brigham Young University-Idaho with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science. While attending school there, I worked as an assistant project manager for an Online Curriculum Development team that helped create over a dozen online courses for thousands of students around the world. I then earned a Master's in Public Administration at the University of Nebraska at Omaha with an emphasis in Local Government––during which I completed three internships: one as a graduate intern with the Southeast Nebraska Development District, one as a Rural Futures Institute Serviceship Intern with the Columbus (Nebraska) Area Chamber of Commerce and Columbus Area Future Fund, and one with the city administrator of the City of Nebraska City, Nebraska. These internships focused heavily on community development, housing development, economic development, strategic planning, grant writing and administration, program planning, and marketing. Most recently, I served as the city administrator for two years for the City of David City, Nebraska, population 2,996. This was an intense and rewarding experience that taught me more about public administration than any amount of education could equal. My family and I recently moved to Virginia where I plan to continue a successful and fulfilling career in public service. Past service experiences include serving as the director for BYU-Idaho’s New Student Orientation (known as Get Connected), serving as a full-time missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and serving the Omaha-based nonprofit Delivering Infinite Bookshelves for Kids (DIBS for KIDS, for short) as an AmeriCorps VISTA Member.
