Randell Woodruff began serving as county manager of Brunswick County in October 2019. Woodruff has led a career dedicated to state and local government service and has particular experience in managing coastal North Carolina county governments: he previously served as county manager of Pender County (2015-2019), Beaufort County (2011-2015), and Camden County (2003-2011) before joining the Brunswick County team. He began his career with the North Carolina Division of Adult Probation and Parole and also previously served as the director of youth and family services for Lee County, North Carolina. Woodruff earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Barton College (formerly Atlantic Christian College) and a Master in Public Administration from Old Dominion University. His additional professional development activities include completing the county/municipal government administration program and the basic public personnel law and administration program through the University of North Carolina School of Government and the University of Virginia’s Senior Executive Institute. Woodruff and his wife have three adult daughters. He is a member of the International City/County Management Association (ICMA), the North Carolina City and County Management Association (NCCCMA) and serves as the southeast regional vice president for the National Association of County Administrators (NACA) board of directors.
