Dane Bolin has been married to the former Cathy E. Nicholas for 26 years. They have two children. Dane enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country until he was honorably discharged in 1987. He went on to attend McNeese State University in Lake Charles, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1990. While attending McNeese, Dane served in the Louisiana Army National Guard, and received an Honorable Discharge in 1989. After college, Dane began employment with the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury as a Juvenile Probation Officer in 1991. In 1998, Dane was promoted to the position of the Director of Detention Services at the Calcasieu Parish Juvenile Detention Center and in 2007 he was promoted Director of the Calcasieu Parish Office of Juvenile Justice Services. In March of 2010 although he still serves as Director of the Office of Juvenile Justice Services he was named Assistant Parish Administrator for Calcasieu Parish. Dane has gained many professional honors during his years of service within the juvenile justice system, including the prestigious Don E. Wydra Memorial Award for extraordinary contribution to Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention and the Liberty Bell Award from the Southwest Louisiana Bar Association. He also received the MacArthur Foundation Champion for Change award in 2011 and the Systems Official Award for outstanding contributions to Juvenile Detention Reform from the Annie E. Casey Foundation. He is a Past Board Member and President of the Louisiana Juvenile Detention Association.
