Description
Police and fire departments, like other local government departments, continue to see their budgets reduced. This article, a longtime staple of The Municipal Year Book, is based on the results of an annual survey that seeks to obtain a general picture of police and fire personnel and expenditures. It presents the following information for both police and fire departments in tabular form: total personnel, number of uniformed personnel, minimum crew per fire apparatus, entrance and maximum salaries, information on longevity pay, and a breakdown of departmental expenditures. Data from the 2013 survey are compared with those from 2012. This e-document is an article included in The Municipal Year Book 2014.
